DocQ ("we," "our," or "us") is a document management mobile application developed by DigiMarine Innovations, built for seafarers to organize and track their personal and maritime documents. This Privacy Policy explains how the app handles your information.
🔒 DocQ is fully offline. We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share any of your personal data. Everything you enter and store stays on your own device — there is no server, no online account, and no analytics that track you.
We do not collect any data. When you use DocQ, you may enter information — but all of it is stored locally on your device only and is never transmitted to us or any third party. This includes:
- Profile Information — Your name, optional email, rank, vessel type, and manning agency that you provide when setting up the app.
- App Password — A passcode you create on first launch, stored only on your device.
- Document Data — Document names, expiry dates, issuer information, and document images you add. Stored locally only.
- Missions, Keeper Records & Activity History — All stored locally on your device.
Your information is used solely to operate the app's features on your device. Because the data never leaves your device, it is never used for advertising, profiling, or any other purpose.
- To display your documents, expiry alerts, and keeper tracking information.
- To send document expiry notifications (local notifications only — no external server involved).
- To enable on-device QR code scanning and generation for document management.
Your data is stored locally on your device using secure local storage (Hive database). We do not transmit your documents, profile, or any personal files to any external server. We have no access to your data and cannot retrieve it for you.
If you delete the app, the locally stored data is removed from your device. We recommend using the app's built-in Backup & Clone feature before deleting or switching devices, so you can restore your documents yourself.
⚠️ We strongly recommend enabling device-level security (PIN, biometrics) to protect your DocQ data in case of device loss or theft.
DocQ does not include any third-party analytics, advertising networks, tracking SDKs, or cloud services that collect your data. The app does not share information with any external party.
QR code scanning is performed entirely on-device using Google ML Kit. No scanned content or camera data is sent anywhere. App distribution is handled through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store under their respective privacy policies.
You have full control over your data in DocQ:
- Access — All your data is visible within the app at all times.
- Deletion — You can delete individual documents or your entire profile from within the app. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data.
- Portability — You can export your documents via the Share and Backup & Clone features.
DocQ is intended for working seafarers and is not directed at children. Since the app collects no data, no information from any user — including children — is gathered or transmitted.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
